The Story Behind Shorelines

Hey, we’re Sarah and Ben. A wife and husband duo, building something that matters to us—and hopefully, to you too.

The ocean has always been our place. It’s where we go to travel, to chase sunsets, to catch up with friends over salty hair and sandy toes. It’s where we’ve spent some of the best days of our lives, diving into the waves, watching the tide roll in, or just sitting in quiet moments, breathing it all in. It’s where we feel most alive.

But then we started seeing what didn’t belong there. Plastic bottles tangled in driftwood. Bags caught in the tide. Tiny bits of waste buried in the sand. It hit us hardest when we were traveling through Indonesia—walking on beaches so remote, yet covered in plastic and debris that had traveled just as far as we had.

Returning home to Canada, we started noticing it here, too. Not just in some faraway place, but in the waters we paddle, the beaches we walk, the trails we escape to on the weekends.

Once we saw it, we couldn’t ignore it.

That’s why we created Shorelines. A purpose-first brand built on the belief that the places we love should be protected. The choices we make, what we support, how we show up matter. So we set out to do things differently. For every item sold, we help remove about 15 plastic bottles from the ocean. We only make what we need, never more. And we’re constantly learning, evolving, and pushing ourselves to do better.

We don’t have all the answers. But we know this: we want to create clothing that’s as ready for adventure as you are. Gear that’s effortless, timeless, and made with purpose. A brand that’s about something bigger than just what’s on the label.

The ocean has given us so much. This is our way of giving something back.

Thank you for being here, for believing in something with us, and for helping us to protect what we love!
